On July 6, 2026, at approximately 19:45, the driver of a Mercedes-Benz vehicle with transit registration number M15-04T03, Akhrorzoda Okilchon Odil, born in 1992, a resident of Penjikent City, was traveling along the Ayni–Penjikent highway within the territory of Sarazm rural jamoat. He lost control of the vehicle and struck a minor pedestrian, Zuhurov Golib Dzhurabekovich, born in 2012, a resident of the same rural jamoat.
As a result of the injuries sustained, the minor pedestrian died while being transported to a medical facility.
An investigation into the circumstances of the incident is ongoing.
