As a result of investigative operations, police detained two men, aged 39 and 29, residents of the city of Gissar, on suspicion of fraud.
In January 2024, the suspects gained the trust of a 48-year-old man from Gissar, received $139,900 from him for the purpose of selling fruit to the Russian Federation, and on September 12, 2025, received 3,500,000 Russian rubles with the promise to build a house in his name in Samara, Russia. They spent the money for their own benefit, totaling 1,782,903 somoni.
In the course of the investigation, militia officers also detained a 41-year-old resident of Gissar on suspicion of fraud. The suspect, who was arrested around July 2025, fraudulently gained the trust of a 35-year-old Dushanbe resident, stole 40 tons of rebar worth $28,800, handed him $10,000 of the money, but did not return the remaining $18,800.
An investigation is underway into these incidents.
