Round table to prevent DV and family divorces in Rudaki, Tajikistan
Last week, on 3 February, 2017, a round table on prevention of DV and family divorces was organized in Rudaki district, Tajikistan by the Community Policing Partnership Team (CPPT) in this district and with the support of the Saferworld and public organization ASTI.
It brought together 40 people, activist, representatives of women, youth, religion, government, police and other layers of the society. Very famous psychologist in Tajikistan, professor Nafisa Yunusova made a presentation of DV, its causes, myths and other factors.
15 families were divorced last year. Family and its values are crucial for Tajikistan. Our grandparents saved their families and did their best to have healthy families.
Imam Homidov, representative of religion department reiterated that husbands should treat their wives properly and be polite with their kids and other family members.
Discussion was alive and at the end recommendations were made as following:
- Role of the community, not to be aside to the problems of neighbors;
- Prophylactic works and awareness raising campaigns should be organized;
- Increasing parents role in bringing up their children and future of the society;
- Third party (mostly mother-in-laws and other family members) should not interfere into the just married or married couples, which brings to divorces;
- To conduct competitions, etc.
Head of the mahalla/certain territory in Rudaki stressed that the community and other bodies should solve the problems together.
